How Able Clinic works

No waiting room and no awkward conversation. A real prescriber still checks every detail before any medicine leaves the pharmacy.

Work out your BMI

Treatment usually starts at a BMI of 30, or 27 with a weight-related condition. Enter your details to see where you stand.

Continue to the health check

A guide only. Your prescriber confirms eligibility. Lower thresholds can apply for South Asian, Chinese, Black African and African-Caribbean backgrounds.

Complete the health check

Around 2 minutes, on your phone or computer. Plain answers keep you safe, so take your time. We ask about:

  • Height, weight and weight history
  • Medical conditions and past surgery
  • Medicines and supplements you take now
  • Past experiences with weight loss treatment
  • Your GP surgery details

The form adapts as you answer. Mention diabetes medicines, for example, and we ask which ones and how your blood sugar runs.

Confirm your details

UK pharmacy rules require independent proof of your weight before a first prescription. This protects you from unsafe prescribing and protects the service from misuse.

  • Photo ID check
  • A full-length photo or short video on the scales, or your GP record
  • Proof of current dose if you are switching provider

Photos are seen only by the clinical team, stored securely, and never used for marketing. Read how we handle data in the privacy policy.

Prescriber review

A UK registered prescriber reads your answers. Nothing is approved automatically. The prescriber:

  • Checks BMI, conditions and medicine interactions
  • Messages you if anything needs clarifying
  • Approves, suggests an alternative, or declines with a reason

Most decisions arrive within one working day. Complex histories can take a little longer, a careful no is better than a fast yes.

Chilled, discreet delivery

You pay only after approval. The pharmacy dispenses your medicine and ships it the same or next working day.

  • Insulated, plain outer box with no branding
  • Tracked courier, usually within 48 hours of approval
  • No signature needed, safe place instructions supported
  • Move your pen to the fridge on arrival. Tablets store at room temperature
  • First injectable orders include needles, a sharps bin and a printed start guide

Monthly check-in

Before each new pen or pack, a short review keeps your dose right for you:

  • Current weight and waist, plus how you feel
  • Side effects, eating pattern and hydration
  • Decision together: stay, step up or step down
  • Reminder a week before your supply runs out
  • Pause or cancel at any point, no contract
Between check-insMessage the clinical team any time from your account. Side effect questions, injection technique, travel plans, a clinician replies, usually the same day.

What your prescriber looks for

A declined request protects you. Common reasons a prescriber asks more questions or says no:

  • BMI below the licensed threshold
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding or plans to conceive within 2 months
  • Past pancreatitis, or medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2 in you or close family
  • Insulin or sulfonylurea treatment, where doses need GP adjustment
  • Signs of an eating disorder, past or present
  • Weight evidence missing or unclear

If we cannot treat you, we say so plainly and, where useful, point you to your GP or NHS services.
